The World - All Mixed Up
j*PhX here folks. Something big came to me the other day. REAL big. So big, we could be talking world-wide for JPhoenix. But, it's not me, it's what I see me doing with the rest of the world.
So I called my buddy Adrian, I wanted to do a compilation CD, just for fun, just to put together a great set of tracks and then send them to friends. Juan was in too, I thought we could put together a great production between the three of us.
We didn't get to it.
Besides, I had a bigger idea the next day. Why just the three of us? Who cares if three DJs get together and do a hip hop mix CD? No one, in fact, it was a pretty dumb idea. It would be fun to do, but I don't care about the production of it, no one would listen anyway.
What people may actually care about is something much larger in magnitude, something that involves all of us, as one pot of thousands of different cultures, religions, and faces. Why do a compilation between three DJs, when I can start a compilation between hundreds all over the world?
That's when it hit me. The World of DJs, mixed together in to one incredible mix. Start at a point, a BPM, or a genre... such as hip hop and build from there. Go all the way through the genres, each DJ building on the last, each DJ getting 2 songs to add or 15 minutes, so the mix grows longer and longer.... A world of music, mixed together.
Then it hit me some more... wow. Think about the togetherness - like the Olympics, DJs from countries all over the world regardless of race, sex, religion will be given the opportunity to make thier name by bringing their own style to the mix.
Each DJ will download the latest "snippett" of the mix and add either 2 songs or 15 minutes, whichever is less, and then will submit it back to the World DJ Mix online headquarters for approval. Only one DJ will be chosen to continue the mix, and they will be named as the DJ of the week. DJs can apply as many times as they want, we do believe in second chances. This is going to be something that ALL DJs can be proud of, something that they all can look forward to doing. The competition will be tough, but the exposure will be worth it.
For the general public, the mix will run on a constant loop on my old radio station, DancePhoenix. The new station name is still being decided.
Three DJs? Let's try 300 DJs.
Monday, January 16th, 2006 will mark the day that DJs come together.
